[ Biography ]
Home town: Madrid. Currently based in Brussels. I have also lived in the UK. I have written, directed and/or shot films in Madrid, Barcelona, Canary Islands, Edinburgh, London, New York, Berlin, Prague, Belgium and Quebec. My short films have screened in festivals internationally. In 2010 I received a BAFTA New Talents Awards nomination for an autobiographical work. I am fascinated by the art of audiovisual storytelling and the expressive power of light and shadow. I understand cinema as a language of its own, with its vocabulary, grammar, commas and full stops.
Patricia Delso Lucas is an independent film director based in Brussels (graduated from the Skillset Screen Academy Scotland, with a MFA in Film Directing). "I was born in Madrid 39 years ago and I live in Brussels since 2013. My first steps in cinema-making were in creative documentary. My graduation work, an autobiographical documentary, titled "Just to call you dad", was nominated at the BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards in 2010. Then, I participated in various international workshops focusing on fiction cinema: in screenwriting at New York University and Sundance Shorts Lab, in film directing at Prague Film School and London Film School, in cinematography at Global Cinematography Institute in Los Angeles and Maine Media Workshops, USA, and finally in directing actors with Beatriz Flores Silva in Brussels. My work expands from narrative drama to audiovisual poems, including dark comedy, western, experimental and documentary. The stories I feel drawn to tell are strongly character based and the universe and imagery I build around them often have a thin line between fantasy and reality. I now have a number of short films finished and others in different stages of post-production. My goal is to start working on my first feature film soon."
